-Graduating Seniors Tyler Hope '10, Steve Waldeck '10, Chris Gignilliat '10, Mike Sopko '10, Charlie Paar '10, Chris Scott '10, and Paul Randazzo '10 say goodbye to the program after the most successful season in SBU Lacrosse history. Since 2007, the Seawolves have registered 37 wins and 22 losses, four AE Tournament appearances, two Regular Season Titles, one AE Championship, and never fell under .500 for the season. The Organization welcomes the Class of 2010 aboard.


-Charlie Paar '10 logged over 980 minutes in the cage in 2010, including 200 saves and a 13-4 record.

-The USILA North/South Senior All-Star Game will feature Steve Waldeck '10 on Friday, May 28 at Goucher College in Towson, MD at 5:30pm. Steve finished his career with 313 GBs, 17G, 11A, and started all 59 games since 2007. Steve was named to the AE First Team three times and the All-Rookie Team as a freshman.

-The NCAA Quarterfinal at LaValle Stadium featured #8 SBU in a tight game against #1 Virginia, but the Seawolves were ultimately defeated by a score of 10-9. Over 10,000 fans were in attendance and the game was televised on ESPNU. The 2010 season marks the most successful campaign in SBU Lacrosse history, falling just minutes short of a Final Four berth and a victory over a #1 ranked opponent. More coverage is below.

-SB Lacrosse registered its first ever NCAA Tournament victory against Denver, 9-7. The Seawolves advance to the Quarterfinals, which is incidentally being held at LaValle Stadium in Stony Brook, NY. The Organization launched a successful tailgate that featured over 50 alums, multiple BBQs, and plenty of refreshments. Special thanks to Ed DeLaura '00 and Mike Poch '05 for providing the festivities for the day. -Steve Waldeck '10 registered 11 ground balls, 3 caused turnovers, 1 goal, and this crushing blow against Denver in the NCAA Tournament on May 15, 2010.


-NCAA Quarterfinals: #8 SB will play #1 Virginia on Sunday, May 23rd at 2:30PM. Reserved seating is sold out as of today, however the University will offer standing room only tickets. The schedule includes Army vs #7 Cornell at 12:00PM, followed by #8 SB vs #1 Virginia at 2:30PM. You can catch the action on ESPNU or radio at http://wusb.fm/.


-Tailgating: Sean Chamberlain '07 is organizing an alumni tent for tailgating in the parking lot, near the infirmary. For a $20 contribution, the tent will include food, beer and other refreshments from 8:30AM and go until 3:30PM. Please respond to livethedream39@aol.com if you are attending.


-Over 50 SB Lacrosse alums showed up for the pregame tailgate at LaValle Stadium for the NCAA Tournament First Round.


-SportsCenter's Top Ten Plays of the Weekend on ESPN featured two of SB's goals in the NCAA Tournament victory over Denver. Coming in at #5 was Tom Compitello '11 scoring a one handed wrap-around from behind the cage. #1 was Kevin Crowley '11 firing a no-look behind the back bounce shot from 12 yards out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IL41y76YJWM


-Kevin Crowley '11 and Tom Compitello '11 were featured on SportsCenter's Top Ten Plays of the Week on ESPN. The above goals were rated #1 and #5, respectively.

-The Tewaaraton Committee narrowed the field of candidates to only five finalists last week, which includes Kevin Crowley '11. The award is the highest individual honor an NCAA lacrosse student-athlete can receive. -NLL Championship: Rhys Duch '08 of the Washington Stealth continues to dominate in the NLL after breaking the rookie scoring record and garnering Rookie of the Year honors in 2009. The Stealth won its first NLL Championship on the strength of Duch's 33G and 53A:

-Rhys Duch '08 of the NLL Champion Washington Stealth scored 33 goals and 53 assists in his second year in the NLL, including 3 goals and 8 assists in the Championship game.


-The America East Championship video is online, featuring video of the game, including play by play commentary from Mike Solano and color by Frank Barile '02. -SB Lacrosse went 7-0 in the America East in 2010, claiming both the Regular Season Title, the Tournament Title, and an automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament.

-2010 AE Championship: The Stony Brook Seawolves were awarded the AE Championship after defeating Albany 11-7 at home last week. Goalkeeper Charlie Paar '10 was named Tournament MVP. SB has now defeated Albany four times in a row.

Now a member of the AE for nine seasons, the team has qualified for all nine tournaments, and has advanced to the finals four times (winning in 2002 and 2010). By virtue of winning the AE Championship, SB qualified for the NCAA Tournament next week. http://www.goseawolves.org/sports/m-lacros/recaps/050810aaa.html


SB defeated Albany in 2002 and 2010 to win the AE Championship and automatically qualified for the NCAA Tournament.


-Team Dinner: Last Friday night before the AE Finals, the Organization bought dinner for the team at the Park Bench. Special thanks goes to those who contributed, including Tris Gillen '02, Kevin Sheehan '88, Hunter Greene '05, Frank Barile '02, Billy Lowe '06, Steve Pollack '84, Mike Sakowich '02, Greg Giampaolo '82, Mike Poch '05, James Devins '04, and Jon Tompkins '02.

It's not too late to contribute, as the team will continue to dine at this local establishment and every donation helps. You can send cash/check to Frank Barile '02 (see address on latest email).


-NCAA Tournament: SB received an invitation to participate in the NCAA Tournament for the second time in its history. Seeded #8, SB has never been awarded a home game for this tournament until now. The team takes on Denver on Saturday, May 15 5:00PM at LaValle Stadium. Brackets are available here:

-The 2010 AE Regular Season Championship goes to the Stony Brook Seawolves, sporting a 5-0 conference record. SB has secured home field advantage for the tournament, and has already defeated Vermont 10-6 to advance to the finals for the second consecutive year. SB (now 11-3, 6-0) will take on Albany on Saturday at 1pm. Redshirt SR Chris Gignilliat '10 has been the team's primary shutdown defender since 2006.

-New Helmets were issued to the team for the AE tournament, courtesy of Sean Chamberlain '07 and Coach Sowell. Further, the Organization is spearheading an effort to purchase dinner for the team on Friday night before the Finals. The Organization would like to thank Sean, Mike, and Coach for their generosity and efforts.

-Pregame Tailgate: The Parents Association will be tailgating in the parking lot at 11am before the AE Final and has invited the alums to attend. If you cannot attend, listen in at 12:45pm on http://wusb.fm/.

-Skybox for AE Finals: For the AE Finals, Sean Chamberlain '07 has secured two skyboxes at LaValle Stadium. Please contact him directly for access at livethedream@aol.com or call 631-721-8855, donation required.

-The 2010 AE Player of the Year is Kevin Crowley '11 and the 2010 AE Coach of the Year is Rick Sowell. Crowley was a unanimous selection for the awards. Five other Seawolves have been honored by the conference, including an all-time best FIVE representatives on the AE First Team. Midfielder Kevin Crowley '11 leads the country in points wtih 43G and 25A in only 14 games.

-The 2010 AE All-Academic Team includes SO Robbie Campbell '12 (3.37 Business Management/Economics); JR Kevin Crowley '11 (3.32 Business Management/Psychology); and JR Timmy Trenkle (3.31 Business Management). All three student athletes are on the starting midfield and have accounted for 70G and 46A in only 14 games.

-SB Lacrosse Radio Personality Brendan Chamberlain, also head coach of the Suffolk CC Longhorns and former SB assistant coach, currently has the Longhorns in the JuCo Final Four. Suffolk CC is seeded #4 and will play Essex this weekend. http://public.teamzonesports.com/longhornslax

-Inside Lacrosse published its Specialist Positional Rankings last week, including LSM Steve Waldeck '10 and FOGO Adam Rand '11. -SUNY Chancellor Award Winner Jordan McBride '11 is the program's second all-time leading scorer with 132 goals in just three seasons. McBride leads the country in shooting percentage (.561), is second in goals per game (3.54) and eighth in points per game (4.0).
