Since 2003, Jim Fiore has restructured the athletics program, including hiring new coaching and administrative staff, implementing dramatic facility upgrades and celebrating unprecedented revenue generation. In 2011-12, Stony Brook enjoyed its most successful year ever as an athletic program, capturing nine conference championships, sending six of its programs to a national postseason tournament, and celebrating the program's first-ever individual national champion.

The Dubin Family Athletic Center is an 8,000-square foot cutting-edge strength & conditioning center, with state-of-the-art audio visual systems, a plyometrics gym, a nutritional food court, offices, storage, and an outdoor patio area.
Dubin has been an active with SB Athletics, frequently appearing at sporting events. Dubin previously donated $1 million to SB in 2005 to create the Glenn Dubin Endowed Scholarship Fund. Dr. Glenn Dubin '78 speaks at the opening of the Dubin Family Athletic Center. Dubin was also honored as the Keynote Speaker at graduation for the SB Class of 2012.
SB Baseball had seven players drafted into the MLB in 2012, including four All America selections. Head Coach Matt Senk was named NCBWA Coach of the Year. The team advanced for the first time ever to the College World Series, eventually falling to UCLA and Florida State. -SB Athletics reported on senior Lucy Van Dalen '12 of Women's Track & Field qualifying for the Olympic Games with a 4:05 time in the 1,500 meter race. Van Dalen claims the 28th fastest time in the event in the world and has been named All America six times in her career. Jordan McBride '11 (#10) has scored 16G, 3A in only six games with Denver.
Jay Lindsday '16 dominated the draws at Canadian field nationals last summer for Team Ontario, which also includes incoming goalkeeper Hayden Johnstone '17.
