-Ten years ago today, SB Lacrosse made its first ever appearance in the NCAA Division I Tournament. In its first season in the America East, the 2002 SB squad was invited to the NCAA Division I Tournament by virtue of winning the 2002 AE Championship, its first ever conference title in Division I.
Team captain Denis Scannell '02 registered 20G, 10A and also served as the team's primary faceoff specialist.
Lead by former coach John Espey, the Seawolves entered the America East Tournament seeded third, and knocked off Hartford in overtime to advance to the AE Final against Albany. The Seawolves then went on to defeat Albany by a score of 8-6 and automatically qualified for the NCAA Tournament.
Tris Gillen '02 (left) registered the game winning goal at Albany to advance SB Lacrosse to its first ever NCAA Division I Tournament berth.
SB went on to play Cornell in the NCAA First Round at Brown University. The game was also televised by MSG and Fox Sports NY.
Kevin Pall '02, the first Division I All America in SB Lacrosse history, scored 1G against Cornell. In 2002, Pall was the third leading scorer in the country.

Preseason All America goalie Steve Armsworthy '02 (left) and team captain Dan DaPonte '02 anchored the 2002 defense that surrendered only 8.2 goals per game. Armsworthy recorded 145 saves and 10 victories on the year, with a .562% save percentage (third best in Division I).

2005 Preseason All America defenseman Kyle Pearl '05 registered 4G, 6A during the 2002 season. Pearl was drafted into the MLL in 2005 by the San Francisco Dragons.
Eric Hatkewitz '04 was named Preseason All America at defensive midfield for the 2002 season. Hatkewitz scored 4G, 2A on the year with the longpole.
