-The Colon Club featured cancer survivor Michael Giangrasso '86 in its March 2011 Calendar, including interviews with Giangrasso and his battle with stage III colon cancer. Giangrasso underwent surgery to remove 18 inches of his lower colon, lymph nodes, and his right kidney. After enduring months of chemotherapy, Giangrasso has mostly recovered. After graduating from SB, Rhys Duch '08 was drafted third overall into the NLL by the San Jose Stealth where he garnered Rookie of the Year honors and broke the rookie scoring record. Duch became a member of Team Canada for the World Indoor Lacrosse Championships and won a gold medal in 2010.

Geoff Shannon of Inside Lacrosse watched Lucatuorto play at the Nike Blue Chip Camp and said Lucatuorto "caught his eye". Frank Lucatuorto '16 played in the Suffolk Rising Junior Showcase and the Suffolk Rising Senior Showcase. He was also named to the Inside Lacrosse Rising Sophomore Watchlist and the ESPN RISE Rising Junior Watchlist.


Frank Lucatuorto '16 is also an outstanding running back for WM football and is a physical player that can faceoff, play defensive and offensive midfield.

Steven Waldeck '10 has played in every game this season for the Hamilton Nationals. In 2010, Waldeck lead Division I in scoring among all long poles with 10G, 4A and was named honorable mention All-America.


Adam Rand '11 was traded to the Long Island Lizards and won 15 of 28 draws against his former team. Rand is in the top five in SB history with 288 ground balls, tallying a career-high 96 in 2011.

-Jason Molinet of the West Islip Patch reported on Mike Diggle '15 and the West Islip Lions rallying to a 19-1 record before falling to Farmingdale HS in overtime in the Long Island Championship. Joe Lombardi of LaxLessons reported on SB Lacrosse receiving a commitment from rising senior Anthony Berardis '16 of Mahopac HS. Berardis made headlines in his junior season when he scored the game winning goal against Yorktown HS in two overtimes to seal the upset. Mahopac had not beaten Yorktown in 19 seasons. In 2011, he registered 27G, 20A, and 46GB from midfield.

The first overall pick in the 2011 NLL Draft, Kevin Crowley '11 was a USILA First Team All America selection (2x), 2010 NCAA Player of the Year, and 2011 NCAA Midfielder of the Year. Crowley earned All-America East honors in each of his four years and is the only player in SB Lacrosse history to exceed 100G and 100A.

RECRUITING ROUNDUP (JUL11)

-Laxpower.com is reporting that attackman Nick Watson '15 (Oldham, UK / Rochdale LC) has signed with SB Lacrosse and will be attending in the fall of 2011. Watson represented Team England in 2010, along with current defenseman Jak Wawrzyniak '14.


Inside Lacrosse
listed Nick Watson '15 in a column entitled "Names You Should Learn" during the 2010 FIL World Championships, describing him as an "ankle breaker" that can make defenders fall over, akin to the speed Mike Powell of Syracuse.


Watson played attack for Rochdale Lacrosse Club in England. You find video footage of him playing below:

and Nick Pelella '15 have achieved much success at Comsewogue HS in 2011 alone, including a 16-1 record, a #50 national ranking, and a NY Section B 11 Title.

Tim Thomas of In Lax We Trust reported on the Rochester Rattlers, including the career of Jordan McBride '11. Thomas described McBride as a sniper who scores often and has the speed and explosiveness to be a force in the MLL. After a quiet start to his rookie campaign, Kevin Crowley '11 burst onto the MLL scene last week with 4G, 2A. Crowley was also named Bud Light Player of the Game for his 4G, 2A against Long Island.
